Portside’s Creative Classroom is a daily in-person program where children are assisted with school work, able to socialize with friends, and instructed in arts education for a portion of each day.
Virtual Learning Support Portside Arts Center's Creative Classroom program is open to students attending local schools in the Philadelphia School District. Students will be separated into groups by grade. Among these groups, students will be separated into smaller groups by school and teachers, to create a unified classroom environment where peers will be able to work together. Each classroom will have a lead teacher and at least one assistant teacher, who will assist students with their school work. We will be following the Sample Student Remote Schedules posted on the schools' websites. Portside will implement art projects and activities for children who have completed their assigned schoolwork during asynchronous work time. **If you have questions regarding your child's school teacher or specifics about the curriculum, you will need to contact your child's school directly. |

Socialization & Play Time
Children will have the opportunity to socialize and play with friends during structured free time, while being encouraged to maintain a safe distance from one another. Children will bring their own favorite toys to play with, to help with social distancing and the spreading of germs. Additional toys will be provided and will be cleaned between uses for all students to enjoy. Weather permitting, the children will have daily outdoor time at Penn Treaty Park (by bus transportation) or the Cione Field. After School Arts
After play time, we will be providing daily arts education for our students between 4:00 and 5:00pm. We think that being creative on a regular basis will prove to be especially beneficial to our children during this time! We also plan on incorporating Arts Integration with the children to assist learning even further when possible. |
Safety Protocols
During this time, the Portside will continue following safety protocols and procedures to keep your kids & Portside’s team safe: We now have three iAdaptAir HEPA Air Purifiers for the Portside Arts Center. This purchase was made thanks to the generous funds from the Victory Foundation, a loyal supporter to the Portside over the past few years. Because of their support, we are able to provide an extra level of safety for our students and staff during Portside Creative Classroom.
