Tuesday night in mosaic class I got to watch other finish and still work on there mosaics. I must say a lot of them are coming out great and looking nice. As in Kim's words “everyone is doing a great job” some were quiet and some were talking to others while working on there mosaic having a good time while we all listened to music on the radio.
Some were still gluing and cutting pieces of glass to put into there mosaic to finish. just like this batman piece above me.
While some students were already finished cutting and gluing, so then they started to finish the rest of their mosaic by grouting it, as shown in the picture. This has come out real nice with the different colors of blue, red and mirror glass and the design on how she did it. Good Job!
As from the last picture I've have shown of my mosaic I wasn't this far in it. Last Tuesday of mosaic class I did not play around, I worked hard and I didn't let nothing get in the way of it. I've gotten far a lot with my mosaic and I must say I'm really proud of my self. Now that I see that more has gotten done on it I believe I will finish it on time by the day I'm suppose to have it done, maybe even earlier then that. But as I worked on my mosaic every 5-10 minutes I take pictures to show the process of me getting It done and its a lot of more pictures from where that came from. Little by little everything is falling right in place and I am glad that it is.
when I said they were really working on it they really were. its good to see others do what they also like to do. knowing portside has the only Upholstry classes in Philadelphia, Port Richmond
Weeks went by and I have gotten some things done for my mosaic. I got to finally glue in the glass for my school name and start the colors on my
design. Which is not easy and kind of hard because it takes time because of the edges and sharp cuts. But so far is going great and is getting easy for me. I have only 5-6 weeks left to get it done and I believe ill get it done on time to present and show my work on what I've learned and did at Portside. As I worked on my mosaic alone I would look at It and think "Wow I did this all by myself" and i would get a great feeling of feeling proud of myself because of what I have done and have put together.
As being an awesome intern at Portside Arts Center, I’ve have
gotten the opportunity to get a scholar ship from my amazing mentor Kim for
Mosaic Class to make my own for the last 4 semesters that I have been an intern here. As a senior I had to come up with a Product for my senior project so I’ve decided since mosaic was a new thing I’ve learned and also enjoy doing at Portside I’ve decided to make another mosaic for my school called El Centro De Estudiantes. A alternative school where you can gradute high school in just 2 and half years. I’ve began my mosaic couple weeks ago and started off very well. The process of getting it started was a little hard because I didn’t know what to do for the mosaic design but with the help of my mentor Kim, teacher Helen and my creative mind I’ve came up with something cool.
