Portside's After School Arts Program
"Empowering the Artists of Tomorrow"

FALL 2018 ENROLLMENT NOW OPEN
August 27th, 2018 - June 4th, 2019
Monday - Friday 3:00-6:00pm
Prek - 6th Grades

Portside's After School Arts Program awakens inner creativity, develops 21st century skills as well as builds self esteem and confidence. The Portside’s After School Arts Program introduces children to the fundamentals of arts education through a hands-on visual arts curriculum. Portside aligned their forty-two week program with the seven elements of arts; line, shape, form, value, space, color and texture. Students work through each segment building a strong foundation of visual arts skills, developmental skills and techniques.

Portside's ASAP allows students to experience many different art forms such as; drawing, painting, printmaking, clay sculpture, mosaic, fiber arts, puppetry, found object sculpture and more. Many lessons are formed around well-known artists allowing students to develop an appreciation for artists, art history and other cultures.

Portside's After School Arts Program 2015 "Happy Video"

Picture
Portside's After School Arts Program teacher Sarah Damiano and our students created this wonderful video for the children who reside in the Butterfly Home in Nepal. The recently built Butterfly Home was demolished by the devastating earth quake earlier this year.  Miss Sarah and the children created a beautiful butterfly quilt to be hung in the new facility once it is re-built. This was a wonderful experience for our students and we hope it makes the children in Nepal "HAPPY!"
